Chinese export porcelain rose medallion covered serving dish with contrasting floral enamel decorated interior. The cover has a gilt pineapple shaped knob and the area is divided into segments, alternating between figures in a pavilion and birds and flowers. The same elements occur on the bowl exterior but the scenes are more elaborate, with the figures presented in greater detail. The interior is decorated in individual groupings of roses and other flowers, and a variety of fruits including water melons and peaches. The base underneath is not decorated. The "orange peel" texture is a good evidence of age.

China, made for the export market, circa 1875-1900.
