English shell base Queen Anne candlestick (c. 1760)
Queen Anne seam cast brass candlestick. The candlestick features a removable scalloped edge bobeshe on an urn form candle cup with waisted stem, which flows into a suppressed ruffled knob on a fluted, extended tulip form shaft over a suppressed knob. The shaft is peened to a conical centered, hexagonal shell lobed base.
Birmingham, England, circa 1760.
Condition: Later solder has been added to the peened base but the candlestick is in otherwise excellent original condition. Surfaces have been cleaned and hand polished. Wear commensurate with age and use.
