Pair of French silvered brass candlesticks (c. 1720)
Pair of cast brass and silver plated candlesticks with fluted base and shaft. The candle cup is fitted with a bobeshe in a conforming profile. The stepped, scolloped base and candle shaft are joined by a threaded construction. The exuberance of the design is French Louis XVI.
France, circa 1720.
Condition: Both candlesticks show loss of silvering with brass bleed through on the high points of the bobeshe, candle shaft, and base. Surfaces have been hand polished. Wear commensurate with age and use.
