English two part seamed cast brass petal base candlestick (c. 1760)
Petal base Queen Anne candlestick in seamed and cast brass. The candle cup incorporates a circular dished bobeshe and a slightly waisted cup with two medial score lines. The shaft has a compressed knob under the candle cup, supported by an inverted trumpet turning over a smaller knob & turned short shaft peened to a conical centered petal base.
Birmingham, England, circa 1760.
Condition: The leading edge of one of the base petals is flattened, as seen in the images. The shaft has a slight list and a 1/2" section of the seam on one side of the lower knob has a shrinkage separation. Surfaces have been hand polished. Wear commensurate with age and use.
