Black lacquered wood sewing box on lyre base stand. Both the work box and stand are decorated with abalone and Mother-of-Pearl inlays in a floral composition reflecting the aesthetic taste.
Japan, made for the Anglo-American trade, circa 1880.
Condition: The case has some small chips and dents (see photos for detail) but is in overall excellent condition. All surfaces have been cleaned and polished. Wear commensurate with age and use.
