Richly painted oil on paper of a snowy river landscape. The view is through a wood with a pond or a stream in the midground and a snowy embankment in the foreground. As a post impressionist Tonalist work it is executed in two contrasting colors,  giving the work its rich brightness. The work has been framed in a white gold leaf Newcomb Macklin style frame of the period.   Arthur Loysen was an accomplished American artist who lived and worked in the New York area. He is listed in the standard art references primarily as a marine and genre painter who exhibited in New York, Philadelphia, and Internationally throughout his career
