Framed Chinese export octagonal plate (c. 1750-1800)
Famille rose Chinese export porcelain armorial plate of octagonal form decorated with sparsely placed sprays of flowers and buds. The cavetto is decorated with a large armorial within floral decoration, along with the motto SED MAJORA PETIMUS (But Greater than We). The arms are surrounded by a gilt chain ring. Some wear of the central enameling restored. Mounted in a shadowbox.
China, made for the European market, second half of the 18th century.
Condition: Wear commensurate with age and use.
