English Demi Lune Flip Top Game Table (1795)

Circular flip top game table of mahogany solids and curly mahogany veneers with ebony edging and holly string. The table rests on a conforming demi lune apron interrupted by four legs dies which continue into four square tapered legs with holly inlays and ebony edging. The legs terminate in spade feet. The fold over top is supported by double swing legs opening to a tan suede interior set in a cross banded border. The design is based on George Hepplewhite’s “Cabinet Makers & Upholsterer’s’ Guide” from 1788.
