Midwestern thumb back Windsor child's high chair (c. 1875-1900)
Thumb back Windsor child's high chair. Constructed of hard maple with traces of an oxide red stain. The seat has been reupholstered with black webbed Shaker cotton seat tape. The turned back posts, with thumbnail terminals, has a slight backward leaning arch and are joined by two flat back rails. The turned front legs have a tapered foot and rise to the seat with a polished half dome. The legs are joined by dowel turned double box stretchers.
Indiana/Ohio, fourth quarter 1800's.
Condition: Very good original condition. Seat has been reupholstered. Wear commensurate with age and use.
