George Gibbs silvered steel wick trimmer (c. 1808)
Rare Birmingham cast steel & silver wick trimmer with the impressed maker’s mark and lion passant (which indicates sterling silver). The trimmer is raised on three short posts, one each at the finger rings and one at the wax pick. The wick collection box is fitted with a guillotine action blade and embellished with scallop shells and flowers. The trimmer is impressed with the makers mark of G. Gibbs.
Birmingham, England, after 1808.
Condition: This trimmer is in fine original condition. Surfaces have been cleaned and hand polished. Wear commensurate with age and use.
