Chinese carved white marble moss garden tray table on shallow bracket feet (1820-50)
This coffee table was originally created as the foundation for a moss garden, carved from a single piece of white marble. The Chinese plateau, attributed to the Reign of Daoguang (grandson of Qianlong) ne’ 1782-d.1850 (reigned 1820-1850), has now been float mounted on two custom patinated iron stands. The scale of the marble is indicative of the creation of Chinese moss gardens in this period of the nineteenth century.
China, 1820-1850.
