Pair of shadowboxed Chinese Imari plates (c. 1740-60)
Pair of Chinese export porcelain plates decorated in the the Imari taste. The plates are decorated in cobalt underglaze blue and oxide red with gilt highlights. The asymmetrical design of flowering peonies with a magpie is bordered with a band of cobalt blue cross hatching. Mounted in individual shadow boxes.
China, made for the Western trade, circa 1740-60.
Condition: Plates are in very good condition and have been mounted in shadowboxes. Wear commensurate with age and use.
