English Georgian mahogany upholstered leather lolling chair (1770)
Georgian mahogany upholstered lolling chair. The upholstered back panel has a serpentine crest rail above an upholstered seat. The elbow rests are upholstered and supported by a sloping arm brackets. The chair rests on square legs, with boldly raked rear legs, which are joined by an “H” stretcher. The frame has been upholstered with linen webbing, Dacron wrapped horse hair, and covered in a saddle tan leather (original fill was a combination of horse hair and straw with cotton batting). Frame has been stabilized with re-glued joints, replaced framing, and rear corner blocks. Mahogany show wood, cleaned and polished.
