King sized headboard featuring a pair of Danish painted panels in the Pompeiian taste (c. 1890)
Pair of architectural feather edge panels painted in the Pompeiian taste. The panels each feature a pair of mythical creatures which are a hybrid between a griffin and a female centaur. These conceits were part of a suite of decorative architectural panelings and have been professionally conserved. Signed on the left panel, lower right. The panels have been mounted in a custom frame for use as a king size headboard.
Denmark, circa 1890.
Condition: Panels have been professionally conserved but fading, loss, and wear to the panels are commensurate with age. Headboard frame has marks and wear (see photos for detail) but is in good overall condition.
