English Georgian Brazilian Rosewood Sofa Table (c. 1800)
Late George III, English Adams' sofa table of faded Brazilian rosewood matched veneers. The rectangular table top is fitted to a conforming apron with divided drawer, fitted with their original pair of turned ivory drawer pulls. Drop leaves are hinged to the narrow ends. The table top and drop leaves are inlaid with contrasting holly stringing and edging. The table is supported by a trestle base with splayed sabre legs on cast brass feet with castors. English oak secondary wood.
England, circa 1800.
Condition Notes: The table top has some scratches and wear marks, and there is some bowing to one leaf and a section of the front edge (see photos for details). This is commensurate with the adjustment of the wood to a lower humidity environment after being imported to the US from England.
