Small-scaled Massachusetts Hepplewhite four drawer chest (c. 1880)
Small-scaled Hepplewhite Mahogany chest of four graduated with cock beaded drawers veneered in a stunning beeswing mahogany. The drawers are fitted with lion stamped brass oval plates & cast brass bails and posts in their original borings. The case is solid mahogany with cross banded veneer over the end grained side edges of the top. The French bracket feet are joined by a scalloped apron across the front and sides of the case. The drawer fronts are dovetailed to the drawer frame. Three vertical backboards. Mahogany with white pine secondary woods. Bench made.
