Rectangular cherry wood dressing stand with a scroll terminal splash. The splash rests on a bees wing figured cherry wood apron, which is supported by four curly maple dies and finely turned legs. The cherry wood shelf stretcher has a cupid's bow front edge and is mounted on shallow rails morticed into blocking of the curly maple legs, which then continue into short turnings with button feet.

American, Philadelphia, 1810-20.

Condition: The stand has been refinished in shellac and both the joints and apron have been cleaned and re-glued as necessary. The single board top, constrained by the apron frame and splash, had a medial shrinkage crack which has now reset and been stabilized. Wear commensurate with age and use.

Materials: Cherry, Maple

Dimensions: 24” L x 18” W x 27-1/2” H (plus a 3-1/2” splash)
