Historic Staffordshire copper luster milk jug made for the American market. The jug features transfer decorations in flanking white ovals on a band of yellow which is bordered and highlighted with copper luster. The transfers are a bust of Lafayette in a garter, flanked by Fame and Triumph in Grecian garb holding a laurel wreath above his head. On the opposing side is a transfer print of Cornwallis resigning his sword on Oct 19, 1781 (after the painting by Robert Smirke, published 1787).

Condition: Fading to the luster throughout. Wear commensurate with age and use.
