Chinese octagonal Imari export plate (c. 1740-60)
Chinese export porcelain octagonal plate decorated in the Chinese Imari taste. The plate is decorated in cobalt underglaze blue and oxide red with gilt highlights. The asymmetrical design of tea house in a garden is bordered with an inner band of cobalt linkage centering on an oxide & gilt alternating quatrefoil. The rim is decorated in a variation of the moth border with cobalt rope edge.
China, made for the Western trade, circa 1750-70.
Condition: Good overall condition. Marks and wear commensurate with age and use.
