New England Hepplewhite tambour desk (c. 1790)
American Hepplewhite tambour secretary flip top desk. Composed of mahogany solids and figured mahogany veneers along with contrasting patterned string inlays and rosewood cross banding. The case has three graduated cock beaded drawers fitted with oval stamped brass back plates and cast brass bail drawer pulls. The secretary centers on a prospect door flanked by tambour doors opening to two stacked drawers over two pigeon hole compartments.
