Pair of engraved illustrations from the American edition of “The whole genuine and complete works of Flavius Josephus”, by Flavius Josephus and translated from the original Greek by George Henry Maynard with annotations and addendum by Maynard & Ed. Kimpton.
The drawings for the illustrations were completed in London by Missers, Metz, Stothard, and Corbould, all members of the Royal Academy. The works were then engraved by American artists: Tiebout, Doolittle, and Anderson, which were published by: A Woodruff & W. Pechin, Philadelphia, 1795.
Each plate is archival float mounted and framed in a mahogany cross band veneered frame.

Published by William Durrell No. 19, Queen Street (bottom center)

Philadelphia, 1795.
Condition: The edges of all the engravings are deckled and torn. Foxing and toning marks throughout. Both engravings have received professional archival treatment, including archival matting and re-framing in cross banded mahogany frames. Wear commensurate with age.
